You have proven your craft. Now share it. Amber mentors guide aspiring designers through structured apprenticeships -and get paid for their time and expertise.

How it works

As an Amber mentor, you are paired with apprentices in your discipline. You guide them through a structured 3-month cycle -reviewing their work, providing feedback, and helping them build the skills and portfolio needed for certification. You set your own schedule and capacity.

Qualification Requirements

  • Hold active Amber Certified or Amber Master status
  • Minimum 2 years since your certification was granted
  • Complete the Amber Mentor Workshop (free, online, self-paced)
  • Commit to accepting at least 2 mentees per quarter
  • Maintain good standing in the Amber community
  • Pass a brief mentor readiness interview

What mentors do

  • Conduct 1-on-1 sessions with mentees (you set frequency)
  • Review and critique portfolio work and assignments
  • Provide async feedback between sessions
  • Write an end-of-cycle assessment and certification recommendation
  • Help mentees develop their process and professional practice

Time Commitment

  • 1.Sessions with mentees -you decide frequency (most mentors do weekly or bi-weekly)
  • 2.Async feedback -review submissions between sessions
  • 3.End-of-cycle assessment -write a recommendation at the end of each 3-month cycle

Join a private channel with other Amber mentors. Share approaches, discuss challenges, and participate in quarterly roundtables where mentors exchange insights and best practices.
